There is always an opportunity to help others in everything we do. There are several initiatives outlined below where, Amanda encourages you to join her in raising funds for individuals less fortunate than herself.
The Blind Loyalty Trust has been set up as an outcome of a very difficult and testing time in 2022 when Amanda was struck by fusarium keratitis, leaving her blind in her right eye. She endured three months of intense pain and two emergency cornea transplants, throughout a very terrifying experience. While she was going through intense hospitalisation and painful procedures, she realised this was something she would never want others who cannot afford healthcare, to have to endure, without financial support. For this reason, she has founded the Blind Loyalty Trust (www.blindloyalty.co.za). Her immediate contribution is via fundraising to run her 7th Comrades ultra marathon in June 2023 with one eye.
The Amy Foundation, Western Cape, South Africa, is a non-profit organisation offering programmes which develop and empower youngsters from challenged and vulnerable communities. Amanda is an ambassador of the Amy Foundation for being one of the founders of the Ride For Amy project, which encourages endurance athletes to ride the Cape Town Cycle Tour and raise funds for the Amy Foundation. https://amyfoundation.co.za/
The KIKA Trust was co-founded in 2011 by Cathy Schincariol and Amanda Cromhout, who share a passion and vision to provide a holistic education for financially disadvantaged scholars, who without Kika’s support are missing out on quality education.
